Runtime and waiting

How Worldkiln runs and pauses script work.

Script work

Worldkiln runs script work through resumable tasks called fibers. Each task keeps its call stack and local values. wait() pauses the current task. The scheduler resumes it later while other game systems continue running.

Instances

An instance owns script state. Entity lifecycle calls and Actor-attached Modules use their own instances. Sharing compiled code must not share instance state.

Contributor checks

Changes to waiting must preserve local values, nested calls, and Actor Module parents. Use regression tests for those cases. For script authors, see Waiting and Modules.

[BETA] marks features newer than the current public release. Current release: 0.8.0.
